Taxonomy
Brianellium was named by Cheng (1986) [Sepkoski's age data: C Bash-l Sepkoski's reference number: 701]. Its type is Brianellium holdsworthi.

It was synonymized subjectively with Tetratormentum by De Wever et al. (2001).

It was assigned to Spumellaria by Sepkoski (2002); and to Latentifistulidae by Noble et al. (2017).
