Taxonomy
Dermosmilia tuapensis was named by Baron-Szabo and Gonzalez-Leon (2003). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cerro La Espina, Tuape, Mexico, which is in an Aptian/Albian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Mural Limestone Formation of Mexico.
