Taxonomy
Broctus was named by Pessagno and Whalen (1982) [Sepkoski's age data: J Sine-u J Plie-u Sepkoski's reference number: 756,763]. Its type is Broctus selwynensis.

It was assigned to Bagotidae by De Wever et al. (2001); and to Nassellaria by Sepkoski (2002).
