Archaeocyon pavidus

Taxonomy
Pseudocynodictis pavidus was named by Stock (1933). Its type specimen is LACM 466, a partial skull (anterior half of skull and mandible), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kew Quarry, which is in a Whitneyan/Arikareean terrestrial claystone/sandstone in the Sespe Formation of California.

It was recombined as Nothocyon pavidus by Lander (1983); it was recombined as Cormocyon pavidus by Wang and Tedford (1992), Wang and Fremd (1994) and Wang and Tedford (1996); it was recombined as Hesperocyon pavidus by Wang (1994); it was recombined as Archaeocyon pavidus by Wang et al. (1999) and Wang et al. (2008).
