Jurabrontes teutonicus

Taxonomy
Megalosauropus teutonicus was named by Kaever and Lapparent (1974). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Naturkundemuseum, Osnabruck Coll. no. Barkhausen track 2, a footprint, and it is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Barkhausen tracksite (Unit 9), which is in a Kimmeridgian paralic sandstone/claystone in Germany.

It was recombined as Megalosauripus teutonicus by Lockley et al. (2000), McCrea et al. (2014), Cobos et al. (2014), Razzolini et al. (2017), Marty et al. (2018), Rauhut et al. (2018) and Xing et al. (2020); it was considered a nomen dubium by Castanera et al. (2020); it was recombined as Jurabrontes teutonicus by Meyer et al. (2021).

C. A. Meyer et al. 2021Giant tridactyl track, longer than wide (L/W > 1.00). Digit traces wide and blunt. Digital pad traces indistinct, but distal claw marks discernable. Anterior trian- gle L/W ratio ~ 0.40. Hallux traces absent. Trackway narrow, pes rotation minimal.
