Buryella was named by Foreman (1973) [Sepkoski's age data: T Than T Eo-m-l Sepkoski's reference number: 686]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Eucyrtidiidae by De Wever et al. (2001); and to Nassellaria by Sepkoski (2002).
