Taxonomy
Longiproetus luedenscheidensis was named by Basse (1996). Its type specimen is GO-851-43-06 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Loc. r08550, h81835. Baustell Erdgasleitun, S. Berfeld, which is in an Eifelian marine shale in the Ihmert Formation of Germany.
It was recombined as Gerastos luedenscheidensis by van Viersen (2021).
