Antarcticocyathus was named by Debrenne et al. (1984) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Tojo-u Cm Dres-u]. Its type is Antarcticocyathus webersi.
It was assigned to Archaeocyathida by Sepkoski (2002); to Loculicyathidae by Debrenne et al. (2015); and to Anthaspidellidae by Lee (2022).
