Taxonomy
Ragnarok wovokae was named by Van Valen (1978). Its type locality is Leidy Quarry, which is in a Puercan terrestrial horizon in the Fort Union Formation of Wyoming.

It was recombined as Baioconodon wovokae by Middleton (1983), Van Valen (1988), Fox (1989), Archibald and Lofgren (1990), Fox (1990), Hunter (1997), Eberle and Lillegraven (1998) and de Muizon and Cifelli (2000).
