Taxonomy
Bassariscops achoros was named by Frailey (1979). Its type locality is Buda Mine, which is in a Chattian sinkhole claystone in the Crystal River Formation of Florida.
It was recombined as Phlaocyon achoros by Wang et al. (1999), Hayes (2000) and Wang et al. (2008).
