Taxonomy
Brachicyon intermedius was named by Loomis (1931) [genotype]. Its type locality is Head of Indian Creek (Chadron/Wyoming), which is in a Chadronian terrestrial horizon in Wyoming.

It was recombined as Brachyrhynchocyon intermedius by Scott and Jepsen (1936).
