---|---|---|
J. H. Quinn 1955 | Teeth more hypsodont with simpler enamel patterns than P. perditus; hypoconal groove closed to nearly the summit of the crowns.
| |
J. H. Quinn 1955 (Equus laparensis) | Upper teeth smaller than H. sellardsi, curvature similar, styles· less pronounced; fossettes large with pli proto- loph and pli hypoloph; protocones at- tached by long narrow commissure, elop.- gate, heeled anteri-0rly, grooved lingually, pointed posteriorly, oriented with long axis of tooth row; lower teeth with meta- conid, metastylid, and entoconid as in Recent Equus, parastylid and pli cabal- linid present; protoconid and hypoconid flattened and concave externally. | |
A. -M. Forsten 1975 | Hypsodont, crowns little curved. Protocone long, wooden- shoe or sickle shaped in early, oval-rounded in late wear, seldom slightly heeled, occasionally disconnected with spur in early wear. Plication frequently moderate to low, pli caballin in premolars, none or soon obliterated in molars. Hypoconal groove seldom encloses a lake. Lower teeth with short metaconid-metastylid column, little lingual grooving; flexids simple. Para- stylid variable, seldom a pli caballinid. | |
R. C. Hulbert 1988 | Largest described species of Calippus, with toothrow lengths of 125 to 140 mm and unworn molar crown height of about 57 mm. Metastylid poorly separated from metaconid by relatively shallow and rapidly retracting linguaflexid and entoflexid. Muzzle width about 45% of toothrow length. |
