Conocephalites zenkeri was named by Billings (1860). Its type specimen is Nat. Mus. Canada 849 and is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Ptychoparia zenkeri by Miller (1889); it was recombined as Loganopeltis zenkeri by Rasetti (1943).
