Cantius trigonodus

Taxonomy
Pelycodus trigonodus was named by Matthew (1915). Its type specimen is AMNH 15017, a partial skull (associated upper and lower jaws), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is American Museum Dry Camp 1, which is in a Wasatchian terrestrial horizon in the Willwod Formation of Wyoming.

It was synonymized subjectively with Pelycodus ralstoni by McKenna (1960); it was synonymized subjectively with Cantius frugivorus by Beard (1988); it was recombined as Cantius trigonodus by Gingerich and Haskin (1981), Godinot (1998) and Gunnell (2002).
