Carpolestes nigridens

Taxonomy
Carpolestes nigridens was named by Simpson (1928). Its type specimen is Amer. Mus. No. 22159, a mandible (right ramus with P4, M1-2), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bear Creek, which is in a Clarkforkian terrestrial horizon in the Fort Union Formation of Montana. It is the type species of Carpolestes.

It was recombined as Carpodaptes nigridens by Szalay and Delson (1979).
