Taxonomy
Warriootacyathus was named by Gravestock (1984) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Atda-u]. Its type is Warriootacyathus wilkawillinensis. It is the type genus of Warriootacyathoidea, Warriootacyathidae.

It was assigned to Archaeocyathida by Gravestock (1984) and Sepkoski (2002); and to Warriootacyathidae by Debrenne et al. (2015).
