Loxolophus priscus
Taxonomy
Chriacus priscus was named by Cope (1888). Its type specimen is AMNH 3108, a partial skull (incomplete skull with LP3-M3, RM2-M3, and fragment of lower jaw containing m1-m2), and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Protochriacus priscus by Scott (1892), Osborn and Earle (1895) and Matthew (1897); it was synonymized subjectively with Loxolophus hyattianus by Van Valen (1978) and Middleton (1983); it was recombined as Loxolophus priscus by Hay (1902), Matthew (1937), Lucas (1984), Williamson and Lucas (1993), Williamson (1996) and Eberle and Lillegraven (1998).
