Coryphodon eocaenus

Taxonomy
Coryphodon eocaenus was named by Owen (1846) [genotype; also said to be 1845]. Its type specimen is NHMUK 27848, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Between Harwich and St Osyth’s, which is in an Eocene marine horizon in the Harwich Formation of the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Coryphodon.

It was recombined as Lophiodon eocaenum by Blainville (1846).
