Taxonomy
Prunus ascendentiporulosa was named by Suzuki (1984). It is not extant. Its type specimen is College of Liberal Arts, Kanazawa University, No. 71165, a wood. Its type locality is Koinoura, Tsuyazaki, which is in an Oligocene terrestrial tuff in the Tsuyazaki Formation of Japan.
