Taxonomy
Magnoliaceoxylon palaeogenica was named by Srivastava and Suzuki (2001). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Tohoku University, No. 71339, a wood. Its type locality is Koinoura, Tsuyazaki, which is in an Oligocene terrestrial tuff in the Tsuyazaki Formation of Japan.
