Taxonomy
Firmiana yunnanensis was named by Xie and Manchester (2014). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Institute of Palaeontology and Stratigraphy, Lanzhou University, MCD090214-035, a seed/fruit. Its type locality is Bangmai Coal Mine, Zhongzhai, Lincang, which is in a Miocene terrestrial mudstone/siltstone in the Bangmai Formation of China.
