Taxonomy
Anancus bensonensis was named by Gidley (1926).

It was recombined as Cordillerion bensonensis by Osborn (1942); it was synonymized subjectively with Stegomastodon mirificus by Kurten and Anderson (1980); it was recombined as Cuvieronius bensonensis by Dalquest and Schultz (1992); it was considered a nomen dubium by Shoshani and Tassy (1996).
