Taxonomy
Amphicyon sinapius was named by Matthew (1902). Its type specimen is Am. Mus. No. 9358, a mandible (jaw fragment with broken carnassial and first tubercular molar), and it is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Cynelos sinapius by Hunt (1998).
