Taxonomy
Cynodesmus martini was named by Wang (1994). Its type specimen is UNSM 25796, a skull (nearly complete skull and mandible), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Redington Gap West (Basal Siltstone), which is in an Arikareean terrestrial horizon in the Brule Formation of Nebraska.
