Nyctitherium celatus

Mammalia - Nyctitheriidae

Taxonomy
Diacodon celatus was named by Cope (1875). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Nyctitherium celatus by Hay (1930); it was synonymized subjectively with Nyctitherium serotinum by McKenna et al. (1962); it was recombined as Nyctitherium celatum by Matthew (1918), Gazin (1949) and Novacek (1982).

Synonyms
  • Anaptomorphus minimus was named by Loomis (1906) [this is crazy, since B & R continue to use "Tetonius" despite indicating clearly that the genoholotype is specifically indeterminate].

It was synonymized subjectively with Nyctitherium celatum by Matthew (1918).
