Taxonomy
Itaphlebia elegana was named by Cao et al. (2022). Its type specimen is CNU-MEC-NN2008228, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Daohugou (CNU 2008 collection), which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian lacustrine - large shale in the Daohugou Formation of China.
