Ectoconus ditrigonus
Taxonomy
Periptychus ditrigonus was named by Cope (1882). Its type specimen is AMNH 3798, a mandible (fragment of right dentary with m2), and it is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Ectoconus.
It was recombined as Conoryctes ditrigonus by Cope (1883) and Cope (1885); it was recombined as Ectoconus ditrigonus by Cope (1884), Cope (1888), Osborn and Earle (1895), Hay (1902), Matthew (1937), Schoch (1986), Eberle and Lillegraven (1998) and Eberle (2003).
It was recombined as Conoryctes ditrigonus by Cope (1883) and Cope (1885); it was recombined as Ectoconus ditrigonus by Cope (1884), Cope (1888), Osborn and Earle (1895), Hay (1902), Matthew (1937), Schoch (1986), Eberle and Lillegraven (1998) and Eberle (2003).
