Elotherium ramosum was named by Cope (1874). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Pelonax ramosus by Cope and Matthew (1915), Troxell (1920) and Scott (1940); it was recombined as Archaeotherium ramosus by Galbreath (1953).
