Taxoxylon indicum was named by Bharadwaj (1952). It is not extant. Its type locality is Amarjola, Rajmahal Hills, which is in a Jurassic fluvial horizon in the Rajmahal Formation of India.

It was considered a nomen nudum by Lakhanpal et al. (1976).
