Cycadites constrictus was named by Feistmantel (1879). It is not extant. Its type locality is Ommevaram, which is in a Jurassic fluvial horizon in India.
It was recombined as Torreyites constricta by Seward and Sahni (1920) and Lakhanpal et al. (1976).
