It was synonymized subjectively with Tricentes by Van Valen and Sloan (1965); it was synonymized subjectively with Chriacus by Matthew (1897), Hay (1902), Matthew (1937) and Van Valen (1978).

It was assigned to Oxyclaenidae by Scott (1892).
