Taxonomy
Gerastos raribus was named by Gibb and Chatterton (2010). Its type specimen is UA 13462 (complete exoskeleton) and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Upper Koneprusites horizon, Issoumour (East), which is in a Givetian carbonate limestone in the Bou-Dib Formation of Morocco.
