Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
N.L. Edmonds et al. 2022Aquatic dicot with determinate growth of floating shoots. Stem up to 8 mm in diameter; internodal lengths decrease toward apex. Leaf attachment opposite/decussate. Leaves heterophyllous, in heteroblastic series; simple and sessile at apicalmost node, simple and petiolate at second node, compoundwith three leaflets at nodes 3–6. Compound leaves petiolate, ternate (trifoliate). Leaves and leaflets increase in size away from apical node. Length-to-width ratio (leaf and/or leaflet) changes from 2∶1 to 1∶1 on basalmost leaves. Leaflet shape unlobed, obovate, symmetrical; base acute-obtuse, apex angle obtuse; base shape convex; petiolar attachment marginal; apex shape rounded; margin crenate. Primary veins flabellate to pinnate, three to five basal veins, dichotomize distally. Secondary veins craspedodromous, spacing uniform, angle uniform.
Intersecondary veins lacking. Teeth of single order, three per centimeter near apex, convex-convex; sinus angular; principal vein present, marginal veins at tooth apex; accessory veins convex, looped, apex foraminate.
