Taxonomy
Eophycomyces herkoides was named by Allison (1989). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is CA 644-2 at 4.1x19.9 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sample CA644, upper Tindir Creek, which is in a Tonian deep subtidal ramp lime mudstone in Canada. It is the type species of Eophycomyces.
