---|---|---|
I. Huegele and S. Manchester 2022 | Inflorescences globose, capitula borne subsessile on a raceme. Infructescences small, bearing 35–45 florets. Infructescences sometimes bear florets with developed stamens that yield pollen. Pistillate florets consist of four or sometimes
three fruits and two whorls of surrounding appendages. Outer appendages (tepals) short (length is 10% of fruit length), flattened and triangular in shape, approximately six per floret. Inner whorl of appendages (possible tepals or staminodes) slightly longer, terete in shape. Fruits achenes, tetragonal prismatic, weakly cuneiform (wedge shaped), straight walled from base to top of ovary (90% of fruit length), where apex curves into an acuminate stylar projection. Style tips not persistent. Staminate inflorescences ca. 7–10 mm in diameter, bearing 51–61 florets and a single whorl of appendages (likely tepals). Appendages flattened and rounded in shape, approximately three or four per floret. Pollen grains prolate, tricolpate, with reticulate ornamentation. |
