Cinguloturris was named by Dumitrica and Mello (1982) [Sepkoski's age data: J Oxfo-u J Tith]. Its type is Cinguloturris carpatica.

It was assigned to Canoptinae by Zügel (1997); to Canoptidae by De Wever et al. (2001); and to Nassellaria by Sepkoski (2002).
