Taxonomy
Barringtonioxylon mandlaensis was named by Bande and Khatri (1980). Its type specimen is BSIP 35315, a wood, and it is a 3D fossil preserving soft parts. Its type locality is Parapani, which is in a Paleogene fluvial horizon in the Deccan Intertrappean Formation of India.

It was corrected as Barringtonioxylon mandlaense by Wheeler et al. (2017).
