Euceratherium americanum

Taxonomy
Taurotragus americanus was named by Gidley (1913). Its type specimen is USNM 7622, a maxilla (upper right cheek teeth except P2/), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cumberland Cave, which is in an Irvingtonian cave horizon in Maryland.

It was recombined as Euceratherium americanum by Gazin (1933) and Frick (1937); it was synonymized subjectively with Euceratherium collinum by Kurten and Anderson (1980).
