Taxonomy
Gymnosporioxylon palaeoemarginatum was named by Lalitha and Prakash (1984). It is not extant. Its type locality is Sultanicherra, Cachar, which is in a Miocene coastal sandstone in the Tipam Formation of India. It is the type species of Gymnosporioxylon.
