Heyneoxylon intertrappea was named by Srivastava (1984). It is not extant. Its type locality is Parapani, which is in a Paleogene fluvial horizon in the Deccan Intertrappean Formation of India.
It was corrected as Heyneoxylon intertrappeum by Trivedi and Srivastava (1988) and Srivastava (1991).
