Fossorcastor brachyceps
Taxonomy
Steneofiber brachyceps was named by Matthew (1907). Its type locality is Monroe Creek (AMNH Rosebud 12), which is in a Monroecreekian terrestrial horizon in the Monroe Creek Formation of South Dakota.
It was synonymized subjectively with Palaeocastor simplicidens by Stirton (1935); it was recombined as Capatanka brachyceps by Macdonald (1970); it was recombined as Fossorcastor brachyceps by Martin (1987).
