Franimys buccatus

Taxonomy
Plesiarctomys buccatus was named by Cope (1877) [also said to be 1874]. Its type specimen is U.S.N.M. No. 1129, a maxilla (right maxilla), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Paramys buccatus by Roger (1896), Hay (1902), Matthew (1910), Matthew (1918) and Wilson (1949); it was recombined as Sciuravus buccatus by Matthew (1909) and Reeside (1924); it was recombined as Franimys buccatus by Wood (1962) and Korth (1984).
