Cornuproetus (Tafilaltaspis) nitidus was named by Alberti (1969). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Middle Hamar Laghdad Limestone, Tafilalt, SE Morocco, which is in an Emsian marine limestone in the Hamar Laghdad Limestone Formation of Morocco.
It was recombined as Tafilaltaspis nitidus by Bault et al. (2021).
