Cornuproetus (Proetopeltis) diourii was named by Alberti (1970). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Emsian/Eifelian Boundary Beds, RT IIIa/2-3 & RT VIII/7, Rabat-Tiflet Area, which is in a Zlichovian/Eifelian marine limestone/shale in Morocco.
It was recombined as Ignoproetus diourii by Bault et al. (2021).
