Taxonomy
Proetus neglectus was named by Barrande (1852).

It was recombined as Proetopeltis neglectus by Pribyl (1965); it was synonymized subjectively with Proetopeltis elegantulus by Šnajdr (1977); it was recombined as Proetopeltis neglecta by Šnajdr (1980); it was recombined as Proetopeltis (Proetopeltis) neglecta by Flick (1999).
