Taxonomy
Ranunculoproetus pharangus was named by Ivanova and Owens (2008). Its type specimen is MGCU 1023/7, a pygidium, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Wolayella pharanga by Owens et al. (2010).

Owens et al. 2010Glabella in front of occipital ring as wide as long, a little longer (sag.) than preglabellar area; anterior border furrow deep, border upturned; palpebral lobes very narrow (tr.). Pygidium with adjacent anterior and posterior pleural bands fused and subdued adaxially; anterior bands represented abaxially by narrow, upstanding ridges, extending close to margin; posterolateral margin narrow, slightly upturned.
