Taxonomy
Noeggerathiopsis lacerata was named by Feistmantel (1882). It is not extant. Its type locality is Dhamni, which is in a Sakmarian/Kungurian fluvial-lacustrine horizon in India. It is the type species of Palmatophyllites.

It was recombined as Palmatophyllites lacerata by Maithy (1965) and Lakhanpal et al. (1976); it was recombined as Cheirophyllum lacerata by Pant and Singh (1978) and Chandra and Tewari (1991).
