Gerastos kippingi was named by Van Viersen and Prescher (2010) [Paratypes
Two cephala (IRSNB a12736, a12737), one cranidium (IRSNB a12741), two librigenae (IRSNB a12739, a12743), three pygidia (IRSNB a12735, a12738, a12740)]. Its type specimen is IRSNB a12742, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kirberg Hill, which is in an Eifelian marine marl in the Nohn Formation of Germany.
