Taxonomy
Glyptodon septentrionalis was named by Leidy (1889). It is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Chlamydotherium.

It was recombined as Chlamytherium septentrionalis by Sellards (1915); it was recombined as Chlamytherium septentrionale by Hay (1930) and James (1957); it was recombined as Chlamydotherium septentrionalis by Lundelius (1972); it was recombined as Pampatherium septentrionalis by Robertson (1976); it was recombined as Holmesina septentrionalis by Simpson (1930), Hibbard (1955), Bader (1957), Kurten and Anderson (1980), Edmund (1987), Hulbert and Morgan (1993), Edmund (1996), Pinsof and Echols (1997), Hulbert and Pratt (1998) and McDonald and Naples (2007).
