Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
B. Yang et al. 2014P1 elements with irregularly distributed and approximately similar sized, high and discrete conical denticles on the platform. Denticles occupy almost the entire platform leaving no margin around the platform. Broad platform specimens generally have a blunt triangular posterior end and developed relatively lower and smaller denticles in the middle part of platform. The anterior process/blade is weakly developed and contains one or two denticles. Specimens with long and narrow shape of platform develop both high anterior and posterior processes, which occupy 2/3 of the platform length. In such kind of specimens we cannot diagnose a complete carina or blade throughout the entire platform because of the variability in denticle distribution. Most specimens have an elongate or elongately triangular platform with the maximum width in the middle and sharp narrowing in the junction between the anterior blade and the platform. In the posterior part, platform has a gradual narrowing and forms a triangular posterior end. No defined cusp is recognized. A small denticle or no denticle is present in the central part of platform, which represents the growth centre. Almost uniformly-sized denticles develop outward from the platform centre toward different directions, resulting in highly variable shapes of the platform. Platforms all have smooth oral surface with strongly developed denticles. Adcarinal grooves can be observed in the junction between the anterior blade and the platform in adult specimens. Juvenile specimens have more irregular growth directions and do not have a complete anterior process. Aboral surface of P1 elements has a flat cavity ornamented with numerous fine concentric striae and a linear depression extending from a small pit in the centre. Apparatuses elements are robust and generally close to those of Ellisonia. All the S elements develop robust and high cusp and denticles are widely spaced.
